1. Vineyard Update

I am typing this whilst I whisper the words to myself because I don’t want the universe to hear me but, touch wood, it has been a pretty darn great start to the growing season, AND LONG MAY IT CONTINUE!… Shhhhhhhhh.

The vines have come on nicely and are growing beautifully. The sun and heat that has adorned our vineyards over the past few weeks has encouraged the vines to put on fabulous growth, and with the inflorescences elongating we are getting ready for flowering.

Flowering usually begins at the end of June, typically when Wimbledon takes place. This is a testing and unnerving time of year for us vignerons. Flowering, after frost, is one of the most vulnerable times of year for our lovely little grapes and is a critical factor in determining our yields, as well as quality.

Distilled down to basics, the better the weather during this period of time the more fruit that we could potentially have and the poorer the weather, we will likely have a smaller crop. We truly are at the mercy of Mother Nature. Keep your fingers crossed for us that the weather stays fair and dry.

Up to this point, Toby has been hard at work, working 7 days a week to make sure the vineyard is in good order. Laborious jobs such as shoot thinning, shoot selection, bud rubbing, raising canopy wires and keeping on top of other vegeatative growth in the vineyard have been the order of the past few weeks. For one person to scoot around and manage 15,000 vines is no mean feat. But, as a grower-producer of premium English Sparkling Wines we must do what is necessary, and then some, to ensure our wines are the best they can be. This all starts and ends in the vineyard. Plus, I am more than happy to give over more of Toby’s time to make sure the vineyard is kept in good knick as I play with the air conditioning controller in the office ;)

2. Wine News - Silver Medal at Decanter

We are thrilled to announce our 2018 Cuvee Rosé has been awarded a Silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards! Now in their 19th year, the Decanter Awards are one of the worlds largest and most influential wine accolades, with expert judges from all over the world. With 92 points, our Cuvee Rosé was awarded a Silver medal, which is no mean feat considering 18,244 wines were evaluated, so we are over the moon with this result!

Sadly, our Cuvee Rosé 2018 has all but gone! However, we have put the wheels in motion to release an additional 20 cases of our 2018 Cuvee Rosé that was initially being held back for further ageing. These will be available to ship out from the beginning of August. If you want to get your hands on this award winning wine, you can reserve your case here, with free shipping, of course.

3. Cellar Door Successes

We had some really great successful events in May!

We welcomed some very familiar faces for our fondue evening, which was filled with cheesy fun! Thank you all so much for coming, it was great to be able to welcome some of you back to the vineyard, and some for the first time. I hope we see your smiley faces again soon.

Just in case you were wondering. The amazing cheeses that were used in the fondue recipe were Baronet and Bybrook from The Old Cheese Room near Corsham, Wiltshire. They are super delicious.

To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, we hosted a very special Afternoon Tea to accompany a glass of our sparkling Classic Cuvee to toast HRH.

5. English Wine Week

English Wine Week runs from Saturday 18th June to 26th June 2022. It's an opportunity to spotlight and celebrate English producers, such as ourselves!

To celebrate, we are hosting a very special Wine Tasting evening celebrating some smashing English wines (including ours of course!). The tasting is led by Grant Berry from Yapp Bros, one of our stockists, and it'll be a very special evening! You can find more info and tickets here.

It's also National Picnic Week, so we are also offering the opportunity to come and picnic amongst the vines whilst enjoying a bottle of our Classic Cuvee! You can either bring your own picnic, or we can do the hard work for you! Find out more and book your tickets here.

6. Our Cellar Door is OPEN!

Our cellar door is now open Wednesdays - Sundays, so if you're visiting the Farm Park, or just passing, you can pop in to enjoy a self-guided tour around the vineyard and then try our wines! These are available between 10am - 4pm and are £10pp. Walk ins welcome or you can find out more and pre-book here.

7. Buy Wine

Our wines are available to purchase, either from our cellar door, or online.

Our Classic Cuvee 2017 has that mouth-watering freshness and the hallmark toasty notes singing through all of that apple and dashes of fresh lemon and is the perfect treat on a sunny day like we've been having this week!
