The inception of a vineyard on our existing Rare Breeds farm goes back many years.
In the mid 2000’s we carried out an archaeological survey of our site and a subsequent dig ensued, all with the intention of adding to the educational purpose of the farm. As a part of the dig, soil samples were taken and sent off for analysis.
We shared the findings with a winemaker from Champagne and invited him to visit. He marvelled at the results and was confident our site had all the qualities required to produce champagne-rivalling English Sparkling Wine.
Farm & Vineyard
A PERFECT PAIRING
After extensive research and successful site analysis, we planted in 2016. Bluestone is currently 10 acres of grapevines planted on our 42 acre family farm which welcomes over 30,000 visitors each year. For generations, we have been focused on providing a setting for quality family time in the Wiltshire countryside.
Throughout the year you will see a variety of our animals in the vineyards; roaming peacocks, chickens enjoying a dust bath, sheep maintaining the grass, even the occasional alpaca tour!
